This year is very self-focused.
The first thing I want to touch on is the inner planet retrogrades. All of the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, and Mars) will retrograde this year. This is noteworthy because Venus and Mars don’t retrograde every year like the other planets. Venus is every year and a half, and Mars is every two years, so having a year where every planet retrogrades doesn’t happen every all the time.
What is even more interesting to me about this, is that all of the inner planet retrogrades start in Fire signs, and go back into Water signs. Water signs are about our feelings and emotions, and Fire signs are about action and drive. Thinking about this on a conceptual level, it feels to me like a call to take infuse action into things we have been feeling, perhaps even feelings we have been harboring secretly or subconsciously.
This year brings a lot of NEW energy and dynamics.
Each of the outer planets will shift signs aside from Pluto, which just shifted into Aquarius fully in the last few months.
Outer planets have years-long transits, some as long as 20 years at a time. They move really slow, and thus bring about changes slowly over time for the most part. So this year ushers us in to major shifts that will unfold over the next decade or two.
The outer planets will all be shifting from earth/water signs into air/fire signs. Earth and water signs are slow and internal, they are all about feeling and being. Fire and air signs are much faster and active. They are all about processing and doing. So I feel this shift will be somewhat palpable. Perhaps more so in retrospection as outer-planet transits are so slow that it can take time to really make sense of it, but I imagine in the future we will look back on this time as a turning point to when things started moving in a different direction.
First to make the transition was Pluto, fully entering into Aquarius in 2024. At the ingress we saw the roll out of ChatGPT which feels like a very apt foreshadowing of this transit. Pluto is major transformations, and Aquarius is a very progressive, forward thinking air sign, so sweeping advances in technology feel par for the course with this transit.
The next major shift will be Neptune, and then Saturn moving into Aries in April and May respectively. 0º Aries is the very beginning of the astrological wheel. I’ll save the side bar on that and just say that that is yet another indication of brand new chapters starting in 2025.
Aries is a very self-focused, and action oriented sign. The transition from dreamy collective pisces into Aries feels like a shift in focus towards the self. Neptune is our ideals, and Saturn is our responsibilities. So both of these shifting into Aries feels like a mental shift back towards the self, and getting re-centered in our ideals, and wanting to work towards them.
Then, in July, Uranus enters Gemini. Uranus is all about change, progression, freedom, and power of the people. Leaving slow moving Earth sign taurus and entering into fast talking air sign Gemini is like hitting a slip n slide for Uranus who already loves to think fast and move even faster.
So like I mentioned, since these shifts are all happening in fire and air, all of these planets are coming into positive aspect with each other. Pluto in Aquarius will be in Trine with Uranus in Gemini, and Saturn/Neptune in Aries will be in Sextile with both of them. This feels exciting to me. The first thing that popped into my mind when I was looking at this was that Beastie Boys song you gotta fight (Pluto in Aquarius) for your right (Saturn/Neptune in Aries) to party (Uranus in Gemini). It may sound silly, but I think a little silliness is what an air and fire sign shift can call for. And make not mistake, there is a lot of serious ass shit going on right now and times are serious, but one might argue that its times like these where we need a little comic relief more than any other time.
Having all the outer planets teaming up in an easeful way feels exciting, and I am looking forward to seeing what happens, however it isn’t as simple as ‘this is good’ or ‘this is bad’, life is a lot more complex than that. What’s good for one person isn’t always good for another.
You may have heard other astrologers talk about these shifts at some point already, and come across all sorts of interpretations on what this will mean, and predictions of all different flavors.
I am not here to tell you how this is going to play out, the only way to find that out is to meet the moment when you get there. Predictive work has never been my vibe with astrology. I don’t like to live in the future, and I don’t want the responsibility of how that lands on the ears of whoever hear it. However, if I may offer you something to take with you into this year, let it be this:
In a time of major shifts, anything is possible, and if anything is possible, anything is possible. If we’re making major shifts, lets make major shifts.
This year offers us a chance to orient ourselves around what feels meaningful and right to us. Astrology, and life, are not things that happen to you. Life is a co-creative process. You may not always be in control of the condition of the road you’re driving on, but make no mistake that you alone are at the steering wheel. Where do you want to go?
That said, between the inner planet retrogrades getting us in touch with feelings we may want or need to act on, and the outer planets coming into such an alignment for big changes to occur, I think this year will show us a lot of changes across the board, and it is an invitation for us to get really clear and honest with ourselves about what we truly WANT for ourselves. It’s time to start thinking seriously about the future you want to see in the world, and getting curious about if you are living in a way that actually aligns with that future or not, and what you can start to shift to be pointed more towards your own personal true north star.

Where am I going? / Is that where I want to be going?
What is within my control?
What is my role in the world?
What do I want to contribute to this world?
How do I want to participate in building the future?
Saturn
-90 Jupiter most of the year.
tension between growth and expansion and optimism and hope, and getting real. Saturn in superior position the entire time, but eventually switches as Jupiter moves out of detriment, and saturn goes into fall.
-Will come into sextile with PL and UR (who are in trine) in Spring -
this looks like big shifts. Both SA and UR will be in new signs, and PL is still pretty new into its transit through Aquarius. This is air and fire. Logic reigns and it looks like societal shifts towards individualism maybe? Pluto is our shadow, power dynamics, and animal instincts. Saturn is our integrity, responsibility, and dedication, and Uranus is our individuality, freedom. Not to make light of this, cuz it is not lost on me that we are in serious times of change, and I am sure you have seen astrological content out there warning you of these shifts, but might I invite you into another energetic take on this one and share with you that tbh, the first thing that came to mind for me when I really pondered this aspect that beastie boys song you gotta fight for your right to party type of energy.
“what is my individual responsibility to empower the community?” - SA in Aries 60 PL in Aquarius. UR in gemini with a loud speaker is gonna bring some fuckin noise and make it spicy and fun. “DON’T FUCK W MY FREEDOM” - now look, with the administration we’re looking at, this looks like the writing on the wall already.
Jupiter
Transitions out of Gemini in June. Goes into exaltation in sextile with Venus in Taurus. We begin to find hope and blessings again. Still in square w Saturn, but in a much better position, and also lessening more and more over time.
Mars
RX in Leo/Cancer
Stations direct end of Feb - time to take action on the things we’ve been pondering over the last several months.
May - Mars exits RX shadow, moving forward for real this time. New challenges.
Venus
Marsh-April. Venus RX in Aries to Pisces - where does she not feel empowered, goes back to remember who the fuck she is. It’s giving major redemption story vibes.
Merc
RX’s in fire to water - where are we acting om repressed feelings? Examining our actions? Letting our hearts catch up?
Uranus
Gemini in July - American wars. - progression enters the communication and learning sector, in trine with Pluto in the technology sector.
Neptune
